This spring I’ve been ramping up the European Investment Bank’s Quantum Finance Labs. Much fun, but it’s taken a big chunk of my time and I’ve neglected publishing new content. Sorry… (Btw, if you work in quantum and are based in Europe, you can be invited to the EIB QFL closed LinkedIn group. That’s where I post most of the quantum&EU stuff. Message me on LinkedIn to get that organized).
I did write one article for the Quantum Strategy Institute that I think is worthwhile sharing with you; How Europe prepares itself against quantum attacks. In this article I reviewed all of the 27 member states’ quantum strategies (those who have one), to see if they have mentions about the threat of how quantum computers, in the hands of adversaries, could break their current encryption schemes. Then, I reviewed their cybersecurity strategies to see if those had any mentions of quantum. The result is not encouraging, much more work needed. Go read the paper on QSI’s website.
I also ran the whole Season 3 of Deep Pockets podcast with six amazing nonfiction authors; Brian Lenahan with 'On the Shoulders of Giants: 10 Quantum Pioneers of the Past’, Kimberly Clausing and ‘the Progressive Case for Free Trade, Immigration, and Global Capital’, Jennifer A. Manner and ‘Spectrum Wars - The Rise of 5G and Beyond’, David Wood and ‘The Death of Death - Scientific Possibility of Physical Immortality’, Dr. Brigitte Piniewski and ‘Wealthcare, Web3 and your Personal Health Data Economics’, and Dan Roche’s book ‘The Total Beginner's Handbook for Doing Business with the Government - A Plain Language, Easy-to-Understand, and Mildly Entertaining Guide to a Complicated and Often Misunderstood Business’.
Good fun, please listen, rate and share our amazing authors’ episodes. While you have those earphones on, the audiobook version of Government and Innovation - the Economic Developer’s Guide to our Future is available on Audible. I hope you enjoy.
And then, finally, what I really wanted to share is this: I started to do consulting in the summer of 2022. It’s been two years with incredible clients including the World Bank, The European Investment Bank, Business Finland, VTT Technology Research Centre Ltd., and South-Korea’s quantum team in the US.
While I’ve loved doing it all on my own, it’s time to start expanding.
I’m putting together a team of superstars who can deliver current state reports, create strategies, and execute on assignments in the area of government and deeptech innovation, both in North America and in Europe. If you’ve been following me and thought to yourself … hmmm … I wonder if she needs any help, please get in touch via email petra@petrasoderling.com.
Thank you for reading and subscribing. If you’re off to, or on vacation, have a good one. If you’re celebrating July 4th, happy Independence Day my friend.
See you soon,
Petra
